BX100.
· Indigovision will show their
BX100 four channel encoder,
designed to be part of an ideal
package for migrating mid-range
DVRs to IP. The BX100 is
engineered to be the gateway for
mid-range installations to an HD
ready, future-proofed security
system.
Vario IP PoE.
· Raytec's
range
of Vario
network illu-
minators, have now been extended
to include PoE capability and four
new model sizes in both infrared
and white light.
Operated via an integrated web
interface or VMS, Vario IP PoE
allows for quick and easy remote
set up, commissioning, operation
and maintenance of the lighting
scheme from anywhere on the
network 24/7. Users have full con-
trol over their lighting at all times
to respond to live events in real
time, triggering lighting to deter
crime, or altering light settings in
response to operational changes
for the best CCTV images and
safety at all times.
Vario IP PoE can be controlled
individually or in groups and
triggered on demand via a vari-
ety of other network devices e.g.
cameras/detectors, and scheduled
using a timer for activation only
when needed, to reduce electrical
consumption even further.
Alarm & detection
Multisensor detectors.
· The Siemens Building Tech-
nologies
division will exhibit
its new portfolio for monitoring
explosion-hazard areas. The com-
pany will present new products
for fire detection, for example for
labs, storage rooms in processing
plants, refineries and chemical
companies. The new portfolio
consists of multisensor detectors,
a safety barrier and a manual call
point.
The multisensor detectors are
deployed in explosion-hazard areas
of zones 0/1/2 (gas). According to
Directive 99/92/EC, these zones
are areas in which a hazardous,
explosive atmosphere can occur
continuously, occasionally or
temporarily as a mixture of oxygen
and combustible gases, vapours or
mist. The multisensor detectors
for these areas detect smoke and
use the dependable and deception-
proof ASA technology (Advanced
Signal Analysis) for maximum
reliability. All detectors are
individually addressed to enable
exact localisation of an emerging
threat so that response teams can
intervene fast and precisely where
they are needed.
Access control
Mykey.
· At Security Essen 2014, Conlan,
from Denmark, presents Mykey,
a compact universal digital access
reader. With its humble span of
50 x 50 x 8 or 50 x 76 x 8 mm
Mykey is one of the smallest access
control readers on the market.
Based on open protocols,
the unit is designed to com-
municate effortlessly with most
security installations. Aside from
the keypad for pin code use it also
includes traditional proximity
reading (Mifare/Desfire) with the
capacity to manage personal info
and payment etc in one single
card. Through Bluetooth it can
also read from a phone or small
tag attached to clothes, watches
and wheelchairs etc. Furthermore
it can read fingerprints and offer
fast recognition regardless of the
number of users.
· Assa Abloy will showcase their
Aperio range, now featuring
battery-powered locks, cylinders,
and escutcheons for online or
offline integration.
It includes the new
Aperio L100 lock
with Pinpad, which
offers optimum pro-
tection for security
doors, transmits door
status information
to the access control
system, and provides
multi-level authen-
tication via a card
reader and Pinpad.
Security Essen also sees the
launch of the next generation
of Aperio electronics. The new
release delivers multiple innovative
features including faster com-
munication speeds from hubs and
locks to the access control system
in real-time without cutting the
2-year lifetime of lock batteries.
Assa Abloy are also showcasing
the latest innovations by Smartair
from Keso, an affordable, out-the-
box wireless access control system
designed for small premises.
Smartair enabled organisations can
secure and manage up to 30 doors
in a wireless access control system
via update-on-card.
Smartintego from
Simonsvoss.
· Simonsvoss
will demon-
strate their
new system integration solution
Smartintego. With this product
Simonsvoss have made connec-
tions to existing complex access
control systems easier than before,
as the system component auto-
configuration in the Smartintego
Manager ensures that there is far
less work involved in component
integration compared to most
other systems.
In buildings such as hospitals,
universities, public authori-
ties equipped with several office
doors and conference rooms, an
extensive access control system is
often already installed, usually a
card-based system with an online
access control station. Access
authorisations are stored there and
also secure the classic offline card
reader.
Smartintego supports the trans-
mission standards of all conven-
tional card formats such as Mifare
Classic, Mifare Plus, Mifare
Desfire/EV1, Legic Advant UID,
HID Iclass UID and Mifare UID.
Installation is performed without
any cables and drilling. With a
battery life of up to 80,000 lock-
ing operations in online mode, the
components do not require any
maintenance for several years.
Sensit Parking License
app from Nedap.
· Nedap from the
Netherlands is
releasing the Sensit
Parking License app
at Security Essen. This mobile
application is a new innovation
related to Nedap's Sensit system
for monitoring real-time usage
of individual parking spaces
with ground sensors. The Sensit
Parking License app enables fast
and easy checking in and out
at a parking bay with just one
click. Administrators can manage
and distribute licenses online ef-
ficiently. Nedap has prepared the
app for easy integration with third
party mobile parking and enforce-
ment applications.
The technology consists of
wireless parking sensors, which de-
tect in real-time whether or not a
single parking bay is occupied and
how long it has been occupied.
Sensit has proven to be an ac-
curate, reliable and robust parking
sensor system for on and off street
parking situations. Nedap inte-
grates its parking sensor platform
with third party systems for park-
ing guidance, traffic management
and parking enforcement.
The big advantage of using an
app as a parking license is the fact
that logistics and maintenance are
easier. Since everybody nowadays
has a smartphone, apps are easily
distributed. This makes the related
costs for a digital license low for
all parties involved.
So much more to see
The above examples of products
shown at Security Essen are only a
very small sample of the technol-
ogy on display. What will be in-
teresting to see, is if the event will
be characterised by the ongoing
migration from a product-oriented
to a more service-based market.
How visible will the trend towards
Security as a Service (SaaS) be in
the 12 halls? n
Aperio L100.
