Mobotix expands thermal imaging line
Mobotix
has introduced the new
thermal sensor modules for the
S15D, being the first thermal de-
vices to use Mobotix in-house dual
flexmount video cable technology.
This is available with all S15D
upgraded to software version MX-
V4.2.1.43.
The flexible video cabling,
weatherproof design and tiny
footprint allows the two S15D
thermal sensor modules to be
installed into any location up to
two metres away from a single
S15D core unit. The advantage of
using thermal sensor modules is
that they can visualise heat radiat-
ing from vehicles and persons, for
the purpose of accurate movement
detection up to 400 metres away
from the camera, even under the
most challenging lighting and
environmental conditions.
The Mobotix M15D and
S15D dual lens cameras come as
standard with Mxactivitysensor a
state of the art intelligent motion
detection software. When enabled
in the thermal camera, Mxactivity-
sensor registers movement without
artificial lighting in pitch black
conditions and during the day
time, with stunning accuracy.
"Mobotix has re-engineered
conventional thermal camera tech-
nology so that you can do more in
a wider range of applications," said
Dr. Ralf Hinkel, Mobotix founder,
"As with all of our products, we
are committed to quality and this
is why we can guarantee an aver-
age MTBF of 9 years on all of our
thermal sensors."
The new S15D thermal sensor
modules are encased in a special
housing made of aluminium and
stainless steel, allowing the module
to be securely fastened to surfaces
without additional mounts. As
with all Mobotix products, the
thermal devices are made in Ger-
many. The thermal sensor modules
are built for continuous opera-
tion in extreme conditions, with
an impressive quoted *MTBF of
80,000 hours.
Mobotix thermal sensor mod-
ules have a sensor value of 50 mK,
which places them in the premium
range of thermal cameras currently
available for commercial use. The
devices are all weatherproof
M15D (IP66), S15D (IP65) and
S15D thermal sensors (IP65).
The S15D thermal sensor
modules are sold separately and
available in three different focal
lengths MX-SM-Thermal-L43
with a horizontal image angle of
45°, MX-SM-Thermal-L65 with a
horizontal image angle of 25° and
MX-SM-Thermal-L135 with a
horizontal image angle of 17°.
The Mobotix M15D thermal
sensors are factory fitted in the
following camera models and
also available in the same three
options of focal lengths. The S15D
thermal sensor modules cannot be
fitted to the M15D.
Mobotix believes it has brought
unprecedented energy efficiency to
its thermal camera range. For ex-
ample the S15D, when fitted with
two thermal sensor modules uses
an incredibly low 7 watts of power
and can be easily powered via a
standard (IEEE 802.3af) Power
over Ethernet power supply.
Mobotix thermographic cam-
eras are designed to detect thermal
radiation of objects in a tempera-
ture range from -40 °C to +550
°C/-40 °F to +1022 °F, which is
invisible to the naked eye.

Simonsvoss launches Smartintego
With the system integration
solution SmartIntego, Simonsvoss
have made connections to existing
complex access control systems
easier than before, as the system
component auto-configuration in
the Smartintego Manager ensures
that there is far less work involved
in component integration com-
pared to most other systems.
Of all technologies deployed
in buildings, security tech-
nologies are of particular crucial
significance. Systems for fire and
burglar alarms, video surveillance
and access control contribute
enormously to people's security
and safety. To reduce complexity
amalgamation of different systems
are on the increase. In buildings
such as hospitals, universities,
public authorities equipped with
several office doors and conference
rooms, an extensive access control
system is often already installed,
usually a card-based system with
an online access control station.
Access authorisations are stored
there and also secure the clas-
sic offline card reader. With the
development of Smartintego
Simonsvoss provides an ideal solu-
tion to handle system integration
into already existing access control
systems. Smartintego consists of
the electronic components locking
cylinder, door fitting Smarthandle
and Gatewaynode.
Oliver Quaisser, Sales Director
for Smartintego, describes the
Simonsvoss system integration
product: "For many building
operators, equipping an entire
building with card readers and
wiring them is too costly, too
complex and in some cases due to
building specifications simply not
possible. Card readers are normally
only employed for outside doors
or safety-relevant doors. In other
cases, the doors are equipped with
mechanical systems and keys. To
replace these mechanical systems,
Simonsvoss is offering a cost-
effective overall solution with
Smartintego, which seamlessly
integrates into the existing access
control system, providing a fast
return on investment." With this
new product line Simonsvoss
targets the leading international
system integrators.
The electronic locking cylinder
Smartintego and electronic door
fitting Smarthandle Smartin-
tego supports the transmission
standards of all conventional card
formats such as Mifare Classic,
Mifare Plus, Mifare Desfire/EV1,
Legic Advant UID, HID Iclass
UID and Mifare UID. Installation
is performed without any cables
and drilling. With a battery life of
up to 80,000 locking operations in
online mode, the components do
not require any maintenance for
several years.
The Gatewaynode Smartin-
tego ensures the perfect connec-
tion between the digital locking
cylinder or Smarthandle and the
central building security control
system. As an intermediary device
between the intelligence in cylin-
ders and door fittings on the one
hand and the access control system
on the other, the Gatewaynode
ensures seamless cooperation
between peripheral devices and
the security software. A series of
unique characteristics transform
the radio-based hub with an
RS485 and TCP/IP interface into
an exceptionally powerful access
manager. Each Gatewaynode is
capable of handling up to 16 lock-
ing devices. Thanks to its highly
developed internal components, it
is able to transmit so-called white
lists with up to 250 entries from
the access control system to the
peripheral devices and keep them
up to date. This ensures optimum
flexibility, even in offline mode.
