solutions. One of the newest ad-
ditions to the XS4 product range
is the electronic lock with keypad.
This product provides a choice of
locking methods on doors where
extra levels of security and control
may be needed. It offers multiple
security authentication methods to
control access including proximity
card, combined use of a PIN code
plus proximity card or a separate
keypad code. It is also available in
a wireless version for online real-
time control.

· Elmdene International Lim-
ited
demonstrated the upgraded
capabilities of the Rapier external
intruder alarm sounder. The newly
updated features allow Rapier
range models to comply with the
pivotal EN50131-4:2009 Grade
3 and 4 standard. This range of
sounders is now fitted with a
diagnostic LED that automatically
flashes to indicate any problems
with the device. The units also
offer versatile trigger options and
`comfort' LEDs to signal that
they are in working order. Other
key features include low power
operation, battery and piezo self-
test, remote test input, ring line
monitoring, silent engineer mode
and cascade tamper for multiple
sounder installations.
Installation has also been
simplified in the new units with
the adoption of control panel
dependent end-of-line resistors.
For added flexibility the sounders
can be mounted horizontally or
vertically, a feature which is aided
by two internal spirit levels.
· Cias Elettronica displayed
Sioux, a fence mounted perim-
eter intrusion detection system
which comprises a multitude of
mems type tri-axial accelerometer
sensors, organised in sub-systems
made up of 1 master sensor and
6 slave sensors: each is individual
and provides its own signal on a
Facestation.
Facestation comes with a wide
array of features and functions
which can be assessed through an
intuitive touch screen GUI. The
device also features an embedded
web server for easier device con-
trol, and supports both analogue
and digital video phone integra-
tion, and with facility for up to
10,000 users through a powerful
dual CPU. The terminal also
includes a built in 13.56MHz card
reader which supports both the
Desfire and Mifare solutions.
· HID displayed the multi-func-
tional Iclass SE Readers, which can
be updated with software in order
to meet the demands for different
card technologies such as EM,
Mifire, Desfire, HID Prox, Indala,
Iclass, etc. It offers a standards
based, technology-independent
and flexible identity data structure
based on Secure Identity Object
(SIO), a new portable credential
methodology. SIOs can reside on
any card technology, microproces-
sor-based cards, NFC smart-
phones, USB tokens, computer
drives, and other formats. SIO is
device independent, providing an
additional layer of security with
additional key diversification, au-
thentication and encryption. SIOs
are defined using open standards
that can support any piece of
data, including data for access
control, biometrics, vending, time
and-attendance, and many other
applications.
· Salto Systems
presented its
latest access control innovations,
including the newest additions to
its class leading XS4 platform. The
latest XS4 on-line wireless solution
needs no hard wiring to provide
a totally wire free networked
electronic locking solution with
an extensive range of features. Ac-
cording to Salto, it is designed for
applications that need the latest in
high level real-time access control
without the need for wiring,
and complements Salto Virtual
Network (SVN) and hardwired IP
