For example Genetec an-
nounced some new features for
its cloud-based video surveillance-
as a service (VSaaS), Stratocast,
powered by the Microsoft
Azure cloud-computing platform.
Stratocast is designed to meet the
needs of small and midsized busi-
nesses that require a reliable and
cost-effective video surveillance
solution without the expenses and
complexities typically associated
with installing and managing on-
premise surveillance systems. The
new features include:
· In-app branding which allows
Stratocast Partners to add their
logo within the Stratocast client,
as well as customize their Stra-
tocast landing page to increase
their company's visibility to end
users.
· Geo-redundancy in Stratocast
that provides an advanced
failover mechanism in the
unlikely event of a failure at the
primary datacenter location. This
option provides a greater level
of resiliency and redundancy by
seamlessly replicating recordings
to a secondary datacenter hun-
dreds of miles away from a user's
primary location, while remain-
ing within the same region.
· A new health monitoring
dashboard which will provide
warnings of system events and
information about the client and
cameras that are affected, allow-
ing channel partners to monitor
and facilitate rapid troubleshoot-
ing and remote assistance.
· Support for Axis multi-channel
encoders that will allow custom-
ers to easily migrate their analog
system to Stratocast, while still
preserving their investment in
existing analog cameras that
continue to be serviceable.
Compared to those of previous
years the cloud solutions are also
becoming more trustworthy as the
bigger vendors are on board and
ready to take the security industry
a step further towards more user
friendly, benefit richer and cost
efficient solutions, based on the
end users real needs. With cloud
technology the security industry
is slowly moving away from
product oriented business models
and is preparing the vendors to
enter into a more service based
market. n

mable, allowing the user to match
existing system programming. All
personal data is self-contained on
the card, requiring no external
databases, assuring the user full
privacy.
Cloud solutions
takes the industry further
Cloud solutions were exhibited
frequently during the show by
manufacturers of video surveil-
lance products, access control and
alarm systems.

Government Solutions were
also exposed, featuring Pivclass
solutions that enable government
agencies to comply with physi-
cal access control mandates to
PIV-enable their existing physical
access control systems (PACS)
to meet any mandated assurance
level without requiring a "rip and
replace" of their existing PACS
infrastructure. The recently ex-
panded Pivclass portfolio includes
an extensive line of solutions
for credential registration and
verification of FIPS 201-based
credentials.
Healthcare solutions that
enhance workflow efficiencies and
help meet regulatory compliance
while increasing security without
sacrificing convenience was also
presented at the HID stand. Dem-
onstrations will include, Easylobby

visitor registration, badge printing,
tracking and reporting.
HID also displayed products

Integration
and Interoperability
· Optex Co Ltd
displayed the Avi-
gilon Control Center (ACC) video
management software (VMS).
The Optex detection products
integrated into the ACC Standard
and Enterprise VMS software
(version 5.0.2.24 or later) include
the Redscan Laser-Scan detectors,
which identify the size, speed,
and distance from the detector
of a moving object. The device
processes that information with
a unique algorithm, resulting in
a highly reliable detection system
with minimal false alarms.
The PIE-1 PoE Alarm IP en-
coder has also been included in the
integration process and provides
power over Ethernet (PoE) for
the Optex Redscan, Redwall, and
Redbeam devices. This eliminates
the need for separate power feeds;
it also converts alarm signals to
an IP signal sent to the Avigilon
ACC client for Redwall SIP and
Redbeam photoelectric detectors,
effectively integrating these detec-
tors with the ACC client.
· Pacom displayed their Pa-
com Unison, integrated security
management platform. Unison
integrates a wide range of sub-
systems from different manufac-
turers enabling operators to
manage access control, intrusion
detection, video surveillance, fire,
building services and intercom
management from one intuitive
user interface.
