to show not only how to handle
video surveillance images but
also to display their increasing
system interoperability with access
control systems. Integration and
interoperability were definitely
also buzzwords at the ISC West in
Las Vegas.
In the ID and access control
field biometric solutions were
of course common, but, it also
became apparent at ISC West
that the use of NFC (Near Field
Communication) is also becoming
increasingly interesting.
Detektor paid a visit to the
show to deliver a glimpse of what
was on display among the 1000
exhibitors present. Here is a
brief presentation of some of the
products.
Video surveillance cameras
Iqeye.
· Iqinvision displayed its Iqeye R5
Series of bullet cameras, a range
of multi-megapixel H.264 main
profile indoor and outdoor cam-
eras. With support for up to 3MP
resolution, these versatile cameras
provide multiple, individually-
configured H.264 and simultane-
ous MJPEG streams. The Iqeye
bullet cameras feature on-camera
storage and built-in IR. Addi-
tional noteworthy camera features
include 30 fps at HD720p and
HD1080p alternatively 20 fps at
3 MP.
The new AXIS P1428-E Network
Camera features 4K resolution.
· Axis Communications, the IP
video surveillance camera market
leader introduced Axis P1428-E,
their first 4K resolution cam-
era. Ideal for overlooking large
areas like parking lots and public
squares while also being able to
capture fine details. The Axis
P1428-E network camera is the
top-of-the-line model in the com-
pact Axis P14 Series, designed for
outdoor and demanding indoor
environments. The Axis P14 Series
ties. Several vendors had followed
the Bosch example from 2013
and launched cameras offering 4K
resolution, e.g. Ultra High Defini-
tion. The 4K standard is defined
and approved by the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU)
and offers a video resolution of
3840 x 2160 pixels at 30 frames
per second.
In the VMS field, it was still
Europe vs North America as both
world leading vendors Milestone
Systems and Genetec were present
As usual the exhibi-
tion was dominated by
video surveillance manufactur-
ers. Axis, Panasonic, Sony, Pelco
by Schneider and Bosch were of
course there, just like the new
fast powerfully growing Chinese
manufacturers Hikvision and
Dahua, and North American
manufacturers like Arecont Vision
and Avigilon. It was very much
about image quality on these
stands, both through high resolu-
tion and light sensitivity capabili-

ISC West, Las Vegas 2014
Las Vegas has become the main
expo gate to today's security market
The organisers behind Ifsec and the Security show
in essen may beg to differ, but it is possible that this
year's best international security show may have
already taken place.
ISC West in Las Vegas, at the Sands Convention
Center on 2nd to 4th April was not just a demonstra-
tion of a market in recovery, but also a vital security
exhibition coloured by future belief and creativity,
mainly based on IP-technology. More than 1000 ex-
hibitors were present to show the latest products and
technology. Being the security industry's first real in-
ternational show on the calendar makes it special, as
it unveils the trends that will shape the year to come.
The buzzword of the show was more than anything
else cloud solutions.
security events / review
ISC West has become the most interesting security exhibition from a global perspective due to its timing in early April, its location at Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas and the
quality of the exhibitors. All the big ones within the physical security market are present.
