follow details and changes in the monitored
area. It can deliver multiple, individually con-
figured video streams simultaneously, at full
frame rate in all resolutions and offers H.264
video compression format both in base and
main profile. Motion JPEG is also supported.
The Axis Q7411 supports IP surveillance
features such as two-way audio, configurable
I/O ports, edge storage with the built-in
microSD/microSDHC memory card slot, and
Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). It also
allows PTZ control over the coaxial cable, in
addition to standard support for PTZ cameras
using the serial ports.
Axis also showed the Axis Camera Compan-
ion, which is a video surveillance solution for
small systems up to 16 cameras. The system
consists of standard Axis cameras, SD cards,
software clients for PC and smartphones, and
standard network equipment. The software
client only needs to be used at installation.
For viewing live or recorded video, or export-
ing video after an incident, either the client
or a smartphone app can be used. All video is
recorded on SD memory cards in the cameras.
No central DVR, NVR, PC or server is neces-
sary making each camera an independent
video recording device.
· Hikvision displayed many products on its
stand and one of them was the DS-7600NI-
SP NVR. It has an 8/16 channel IP camera in-
put and can record video up to 5 megapixels.
Third-party network cameras are supported.
Other key features are HDMI and VGA
outputs up to 1920x1080P resolution, 8
independent PoE network interfaces, 2 SATA
HDD interfaces up to 4TB each and plug &
play automatic installation and configuration.
Dynamic Transcoding Technology frtom Bosch.
· Bosch introduced one of the most inter-
esting products at Security Essen: Dynamic
Transcoding Technology which provides im-
mediate access to high quality video.
It extends the possibilities for low-band-
width remote monitoring. Reviewing high-
quality scenes can be very time-consuming
and when this is also carried out remotely, the
user is dependent on the speed of the internet
connection. In the case of a low bandwidth
connection, HD quality material is invariably
buffered, which equally takes a large amount
of time.
The Dynamic Transcoding Technology
changes a video file to a different format or
bitrate without compromising on the original
ability. The Axis camera companion concept
for smaller installations is not only extremely
quick and easy to install, but also easy to use.
ONVIF
ONVIF, the global standardisation initiative
for IP-based physical security products, hosted
a panel discussion at Security Essen, an event
that drew a diverse crowd of more than 80
people, demonstrating that the issue of stand-
ardisation and interoperability in the security
industry is still a subject of great interest and
debate.
The panelists agreed that the deployment of
standards in the industry would allow systems
integrators and end users to more easily com-
pare and select products for IP video deploy-
ments and enable interoperability between
existing and future components of a system.
Security Innovation Award
Messe Essen honoured particularly pioneer-
ing innovations with the Security Innovation
Award. The prize winners included a security
door closer from Assa Abloy Sicherheitstech-
nik which is equipped with an escape door
opener for simple retrofitting on fire and
smoke protection doors in conformity with
the standards as well as a 360-degree camera
from Syperion GmbH which creates precise
panoramic ima ges.
Security Conference
The European Commission staged its Security
Conference at the trade fair. With the title of
"Security Research Meets Industry: Growth.
Technology. Markets", experts provided
information, amongst other subjects, about
strategies for the security industry as well as
about possibilities of safeguarding borders or
alerting the population and sought dialogue
with partners from industry.
Detektor had a closer look at some of the
products that were shown during the exhibi-
tion. Here is a selection of them:

Axis Q7411 Video Encoder.
· Axis displayed its new video encoder the
Axis Q7411. It is a one-channel video encoder
with video processing capabilities and, ac-
cording to Axis, it is the perfect solution for
analogue installations migrating to IP. Axis
believes it is the first encoder solution on the
market offering 60 frames per second, which
provides smooth video in high motion scenes.
