Suprema all weather biometric reader
Seoul, Korea
Suprema
 is launching the Bioentry
W, a fingerprint IP reader featur-
ing vandal-resistant and water-
proof structure.
With its rugged IP65/IK08
certified protective structure,
the Bioentry W is designed for
outdoor installations and harsh
operating environments. Packed in
a mullion-sized body, Bioentry W
features the Suprema fingerprint
algorithm with many features.
For outdoor installations,
Bio entry W offers dust and water
protection by
featuring IP65
certified body
structure with
operating tem-
perature range
from -20 degrees
to 50 degrees.
Bioentry W also
features IK08
certified vandal
proof structure
which protects
up to 5 joules of
impact. The device's rugged hous-
ing is made of specialised heavy-
duty Lexan resin and its outer
shell thickness has been doubled
in comparison to most ordinary
access readers.
Bioentry W provides easy
installation and network connec-
tivity by TCP/IP and PoE(Power
over Ethernet) which completes
true IP-to-the-door access control
by wiring a single CAT5/6 cable
for both network and power.
The device also provides RS485,
Wiegand and an internal relay for
direct lock interface.
The design of the Bioentry W
is focused on satisfying both aes-
thetic and practical aspects. It fea-
tures a 3D dotted pattern on the
front, multi-colour LED indicator
and a metallic silver finish on rims.
It measures 172 mm of height and
50 mm of width.
In addition, Bioentry W is
fully compatible with the Biostar,
Suprema's IP based access control
management system.

Geovision releases latest access control innovation
Taipei, Taiwan
Geovision
 has launched the GV-
CR420, a convergence of intel-
ligent video surveillance and access
control, consisting of a card reader
built-in with a 4-megapixel wide
angle IP camera.
The device is designed to give a
clear wide angle space imaging at a
point of entrance, thus extending
the field of view for more back-
ground information. According to
Geovision, with the built-in face
detection function, it captures
only accurate fa-
cial images, and
filters out faces
hidden by masks
or helmets.
The GV-CR420 is supported
by both Geovision video surveil-
lance and access control applica-
tions. It captures and transmits
live view to GV-Asmanager,
Geovision's access control manage-
ment solution, and GV-System,
the company's surveillance video
management solution, through a
network connection. The integra-
tion increases assurance levels
in both surveillance and access
control and with the built-in IP
camera, it avoids the hassle of
installing a separate camera at the
entrance to a building.
The GV-CR420 uses a wide
angle lens, providing extra space
imaging in comparison to tradi-
tional cameras. The advantage of
this is that it is possible to include
more informative images than just
a visual of the card user, for exam-
ple, tailgaters may also be included
in the camera view.
There are also other built-in
intelligent video functions such as
motion detection, privacy mask
and alert notifications. All these
functions can be easily accessed by
the web browser interface.
Mobotix launch a "world first" camera
Langmeil, Germany
The new S14 Flexmount camera
from Mobotix is available in both
mono (S14M) and dual (S14D)
versions, and features miniature
lens units.
Mobotix are terming the S14
Flexmount as the world's first flex-
ible double hemispheric camera
and it offers a wide range of appli-
cation opportunities. For instance,
the S14D can be equipped with
two hemispheric lens units with
integrated microphone that are
connected to the main housing
via cables. This makes it possible
to fully secure two rooms located
next to or on top of one another
with just one single S14. The
slim design of the module units,
which are available in white and
black, permit an extremely discreet
installation.
The S14 Flexmount offers the
option to set up two hemispheric
lens units simultaneously in order
to completely cover two adjacent
rooms with just one single S14D.
When installed in a certain way, the
S14D can also see around corners
or secure indoor and outdoor areas
at the same time. The two sensors
allow the S14 to generate two dis-
tortion-corrected, high-resolution
180 degree panorama images, each
with a resolution of 3.1 megapixels.
All other Mobotix lenses, from
super-wide angle to tele lens, will
be available in the near future as
day or night versions.
According to Mobotix the S14
is the world's first hemispheric
day-and-night camera. When both
modules with black-and-white
and colour sensors are mounted
directly next to each other and
cover the same area, the camera
automatically chooses the best
available mode depending on the
lighting conditions. According to
Mobotix, this provides for excel-
lent colours in daylight as well
as superb light sensitivity in dark
environments. Panning and zoom-
ing into the image is done purely
electronically. The user is provided
with detail views and other image
sections without any mechanical
movement, meaning that there is
no wear-and-tear to the camera
and no maintenance is required.
Both module units and the
separate housing with the latest dual
camera board are weatherproof in
accordance with IP65 and oper-
ate in a temperature range of -30
degrees to +60 degrees (-22°F to
+140°F). The flat housing, includ-
ing flash memory with up to 64 GB
and all external connectors (Eth-
ernet, Mini USB, Mxbus), can be
installed discreetly and with optimal
protection behind a wall or ceiling
panel so that only the lens units
in their ultra-compact protective
housing are visible. Power is sup-
plied via a network cable (PoE). At
less than five watt-hours, the energy
consumption is extremely low.
The camera's technical features
and very discreet mounting open
up a whole range of application op-
portunities. In L-shaped rooms, for
example, the two sensor modules
can be positioned at the corner
in correct angles to each other,
therefore capturing the entire room
without any blind spots. Therefore,
the S14 is particularly well-suited
for use in hotels, banks and retail
stores where the highest levels of
security and discretion are required.
