Optex launches wireless photoelectric detector
Chino, Ca (USA)
Optex
 is expanding on its outdoor
battery powered intrusion line by
adding the SL-350QFR, a 350
ft. battery-powered photoelectric
detector requiring no trenching or
wiring.
"Even with the success of our
100 ft. and 200 ft. battery-pow-
ered beams, there were still larger
applications where too many beam
sets would be required. With the
SL-350QFR, we will be able to
not only offer a more cost-effective
solution for these larger sites, but
also offer additional features that
our customers
asked for, such
as quad beam
detection and
extended battery
life of up to 10
years," says Scott
Simmons, Vice
President of
sales.
The SL-
350QFR is available in a wireless-
ready version that works with most
manufacturers wireless systems and
an I-Series SL-350QFRI version
that includes an Inovonics wireless
EN1941 transmitter pre-installed.
Both versions come with four
batteries per set, with the option
of expanding to eight for up to 10
years of battery life. In addition,
the SL-350QFR is compatible
with the AX-TW200 line of beam
towers for a clean, concealed, wire-
less mounting option.
"Our sales staff and technical
team will work closely with the
integrator and installer to find the
best mounting option and layout
on their job site. When a site plan
is provided, we'll custom build
the towers and pre-install the SL-
350QFR beams in them based on
the job site specifications, all at no
charge," states Frank Chavez, Lead
Technician. "We'll even ship them
directly to the job site, labeled for
position and ready to be installed."
The SL-350QFR series is well
suited for substations, oil and gas
facilities, transportation, cor-
rectional facilities, storage and
impound yards, critical infrastruc-
tures, industrial complexes and
solar fields.

Dahua's first HLS camera
Hangchou, China
Dahua Technology
recently
released its 700TVL day/night HLS
camera (DH-CA-F681E) which in-
corporates the Sony Effio-S 960H
CCD chipset.
Recently great improvements
have been achieved within the
field of video surveillance in terms
of road safety and security, and yet
to achieve an image of a perfectly
legible number plate when there
is low illumination still often
proves difficult. This new product
from Dahua is exactly targeted at
this market and aims to resolve
this issue with great performance
in terms of its image processing,
colour reproduction and number
plate recognition in low light
conditions.
According to the company,
Dahua HLS technology effectively
suppresses the glare interference
from the headlight and success-
fully removes the unwanted light
area on the license plate, present-
ing a clear and perfectly legible
plate number. Meanwhile, the
driver and other objects inside the
car can also be seen in the second
picture. This additional informa-
tion may well be of great help to
the authorities in terms of crime
detection or post-event investiga-
tion and the evidence collection
process.
In addition Dahua has also cre-
ated a new and original design for
the on screen display and settings
for the DH-CA-F681E by moving
away from what they term as the
rather monotonous style or design,
that can be found everywhere on
products in today's market. Fur-
thermore, this camera is designed
with more parameter adjustment
choices allowing users to custom
set up the device to meet the
requirements of a wider variety of
real life scenes.
Vivotek debuts 5 megapixel fisheye camera
Taipei, Taiwan
Vivotek
 is launching the
FE8172/72V, its first 5 megapixel
fisheye camera, for both indoor
and outdoor applications.
Equipped with a 5 megapixel
CMOS sensor enabling viewing
resolution of 1080p up to 30 fps
and a 1.05 mm fisheye lens for a
180 degree panoramic view or 360
degree surround view, the Vivotek
FE8172/72V camera is, according
to the company, able to not only
eliminate blind spots but also to
provide the greatest coverage with
the finest details.
"We are launching a series of
5 megapixel solutions this year,
starting with the FD8372 designed
for demanding outdoor environ-
ments," said William Ku. "The 5
megapixel fixed dome has received
tremendous positive feedback from
the industry and we are confident
that the fisheye camera will, too."
The Vivotek FE8172/72V
boasts a number of features in ad-
dition to those already available on
the FE8171V, the 3.1-megapixel
first generation fisheye camera.
The FE8172V, the outdoor
model, is EN-50155 certified
demonstrating that it is capable of
performing in rail industry appli-
cations, as the EN-50155 standard
is used to regulate electronic
equipment on rolling stock. The
IP66-rated design, on the other
hand, protects the camera against
water and dust intrusion. The
vandal-proof IK10-rated housing
allows for robust protection from
vandalism. As for the FE8172, the
indoor model, it is designed to
be installation-friendly and thus
comes with smaller dimensions
than the FE8172V.
According to Ku, the Vivotek
FE8172/72V is designed for open
areas such as airports, shopping
malls, parking lots, retail stores
and offices.
