"It's important to future-proof access control systems"
You simply cannot maintain security with a proprietary system. The pace of develop-
ment is just too fast," says Robert Jansson.

"They must choose solutions
where identities or identity-
related information cannot be
extracted. Additionally, they
should opt for systems based
on open platforms, making it
easier to update and enhance
security levels as new threats or
requirements arise, without being
dependent on specific vendors to
solve security issues."
Open standards
In Stid's DNA
Robert Jansson's commitment to
open systems is not just personal.
As Sales Director for Stid in
the Nordics, Eastern Europe,
and South Africa, he represents
an organisation where open
technology forms the core of its
operations. Stid develops reader
technology for access control,
based on open standards.
"That's right. We primarily
use open standards and protocols
to share our technology with
other suppliers. Our products are
built to be compatible with com-
mon standards such as OSDP
and RFID/NFC technology. This
allows others to easily integrate
our solutions into their systems
without needing proprietary
hardware or software," he says.
Collaborating with other
manufacturers
Through SDK and API, other
companies can integrate Stid's
readers into their own platforms
and develop customised solu-
tions for managing permissions,
configuring devices, and creating
tailored applications.
To ensure that the products
meet security requirements when
shared with other suppliers,
Stid works closely with partners
on security standards such as
data encryption and biometric
security.
"By collaborating in these
areas, we help ensure that our
products are integrated securely.
Our products are also certified to
meet the requirements of regu-
lated industries, making integra-
tion easier for suppliers operating
in sectors like finance, healthcare,
and government agencies," Rob-
ert Jansson explains.
Winning collaboration
with Nexus
The result of a collaboration
highlighted this year is the unique
solution developed by Stid and
Nexus, enabling seamless access
and digital authentication through
mobile virtual smartcards, already
used for digital authentication, to
grant physical access.
The solution was launched
in the spring under the name
Nexus x Stid and later rebranded
as Nexus Phygital Mobile ID.
As a one-of-a-kind solution, it
also won first prize in the ID &
Access Control category at the
annual Detektor International
Awards, held during the Skydd
security exhibition in Stockholm
on the 22nd of October.
"The collaboration with
Nexus has been fantastic. We
were thrilled when the solution
was nominated for the Detektor
International Award and over-
whelmed when it won first prize
for Nexus in the Victoria Hall at
Stockholm International Fairs,"
concludes Robert Jansson.
Open systems are the only way to keep access control systems
secure over time. You simply cannot maintain security with a
proprietary system. The pace of development is just too fast."
